Toronto lost a great generous community leader after his fight with the Corona Virus #Covid19. Br. Hussain Bhayat was a retired educator, a former board member of Human Concern International (HCI), and a former President of the American Federation of Muslims of Indian Origin (AFMI Canada).
He was a tireless and selfless supporter of charitable causes throughout the world---raising funds for William Osler and Trillium Hospitals, supporting schools in India, Haiti, Bangladesh, Pakistan, supporting clean water projects in the Middle East and the Caribbean, sponsorship of Syrian refugees...There are too many to list.

Born in the 1930s in Bombay Presidency of the then British governed India he completed his education in Bombay. He arrived in the 1960s in Canada. He initially worked at a hotel before embarking on a four-decade teaching career in Nova Scotia Public Schools. He moved to Mississauga after retirement and was dedicated himself to community building. Jami Masjid (Coopers), IDRF, AFMI, and several organizations were beneficiaries of his leadership and volunteerism. He always led from the front.
He was a mentor to many. He will be missed and but his good works will live on. Apart from his immediate family, he leaves behind a large number of people who were touched by his golden heart.
May Allah accept all his sacrifices and contributions to the community and to the relief causes, Ameen.
May Allah inspire us to follow in his footsteps to serve others with dedication, Ameen.
